Rural Hill Revolutionary
War Reenactment
In January 1781, General Lord Cornwallis and his British legion began their
march northward from
Charlotte, North Carolina
to pursue the American Southern Army under the command of General Nathanael
Greene who was retreating toward Salisbury.
Cornwallis moved westward toward Lincolnton and then headed toward present
day Huntersville. On the morning of February 1, 1781, American troops were
positioned on the banks of the Catawba River under the leadership of General
William Lee Davidson to meet the advancing British army.
Join us for the weekend as we recreate the events which took
place during that important time in
America’s struggle for
Independence.
You will have the
opportunity to walk through the camps and experience the sites and smells of
camp life in both British and American armies.
